Het zitje is gemaakt van spuitgegoten EPDM rubber. De ringen, beugels en stel achten zijn gemaakt van gegalvaniseerd staal en de touwverbindingen zijn van gelast kunststof.
Om veilig te kunnen schommelen moeten schommelzitjes gebruikt worden in combinatie met schommelhaken voorzien van een nylon lager. Bij gebruik van een metalen ophangsysteem zonder scharnierend element kan, door het schuren van metaal op metaal, slijtage aan de ringen ontstaan. Deze slijtage valt in dat geval niet onder de garantie en het gebruik van een metalen ophangsysteem zonder scharnierend element is op eigen risico.
