American Shuffleboard
American Shuffleboard finally in the Netherlands!
American Shuffleboard is not yet widely known in the Netherlands, but the game has been a great success in many other countries. And that's not surprising because shuffleboard is a simple, competitive, and challenging game.
What do you need to play shuffleboard?
First and foremost, you need a shuffleboard. Most shuffleboards come with legs, but there are also tabletop shuffleboards. The smallest shuffleboard in the Buffalo collection has a length of 9ft (+/- 275 cm), and the largest one measures 22ft (+/- 675 cm).
Shuffleboard is played with shuffleboard pucks. These are heavy discs with a diameter of 5.8 cm and a weight of +/- 370 grams. Each player plays with 4 pucks.
Additionally, you'll need shuffleboard powder, also known as speed wax. This powder ensures that the pucks glide smoothly over the playing surface.
How do you play shuffleboard?
Unlike playing Dutch shuffleboard (sjoelen), in shuffleboard, you play directly against each other. Both players start on the same side of the shuffleboard and take turns sliding the pucks until all pucks have been played. The goal is to score as many points as possible by sliding the pucks into the numbered zones. Only the points of the pucks that are beyond the opponent's pucks count. You can also bounce your opponent's puck off the playing field, potentially changing the final score in an instant—keeping the game thrilling until the last moment!
